F&K Concepts, Inc. (FKCI) works primarily with businesses and organizations on a wide variety of products and services and has partnered with customers on numerous creative, custom products. Popular products and services include name badges, luggage tags, engraved plaques and awards, signage, commercial and industrial nameplates, general engraving and branded promotional products.
FKCI founder, Fred Booher, started the business in 1970, while working as a full-time engineer. In 1977, he began a 4-year period where he worked as a full-time salesman in the Dayton area, during which time he became acquainted with many local businesses.
In 1982, Fred committed himself to engraving full time. The business grew primarily by word of mouth and God’s blessing. Kay worked in the shop and their daughter, Shawnie, worked in the office for about 13 years. Their son, Don, has managed operations and production since 1984, in addition to serving as the IT specialist and managing the engraving equipment, overseeing product quality, and ensuring every job gets out in a timely manner. Without Don’s contributions, none of this would have been possible. As the company grew, additional staff were added and Fred and Kay’s grandchildren even helped out.
In 2017, family friend, Greg Frye, joined the business to lead business development and the front office. Greg brings over 30 years of service driven, small business experience, in areas of IT, operational efficiencies and financial management.
